Going Green

In order to support the green initiatives taken by the government and the developers, various industries need to come together to make sustainable future a reality for all. That is how researchers from the faculty of civil engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA in Malaysia have successfully developed an environment friendly version of building concrete called green-mix concrete. It is well-known that concrete has an important role to play in green building because a significant amount of the world’s carbon emissions stem from cement and concrete production. As such, this creation by the researchers is a boon for the green building industry.

Green buildings are preferred by eco-conscious dwellers and developers as they use less energy, water, create less waste, and are healthier to live, work, or go to school in than standard buildings. Contractors of green buildings also incorporate techniques that use resources more efficiently during the entire building cycle – construction, renovation, operation, maintenance, and demolition – than builders of conventional structures. Furthermore, the environmental benefits of building green include the protection of ecosystems and biodiversity, improved air and water quality, less waste flowing into steams, and the conservation of natural resources. Green buildings can also result in lower operating costs because they typically use less energy and materials and improved indoor air quality, which improves the health of occupants. Some of the green projects in the country right now:

River Tropics

River Tropics, an affordable low-density green condominium project developed by New Bob Group, is known as the first green condo in Seberang Jaya, Penang. Launched at the end of 2015, it has already won the Provisional BCA Green Mark award.

It is also located mere minutes away from the established commercial Sunway Carnival development and the Penang Bird Park, perfectly reflecting its eco-friendly nature.

The units in the well-connected housing project are designed to enable ample natural lighting and ventilation.

Meanwhile, to further enhance a sustainable lifestyle beyond the construction, River Tropics provides residents a smart green technology called the Smarter Sustainable Community. Essentially a paperless system, the technology is a digital platform that bridges the gap of communications through an exclusive apps, allowing complete access of communication in between management, residents, and security. Even visitors will experience a wholly digital guest registration process.

New Bob Group – the developer behind the creation of River Tropics is renowned for adhering to the strictest of green building standards through several green building initiatives already implemented on their existing and future development projects.

The company aims to construct more sustainable developments in future to foster a healthier Mother Earth for the benefit of our future generation.
